You’re absolutely right that the cordless model is slightly less powerful than the plug-in Max. We state on the website that it delivers around 10–15% less intensity in exchange for the freedom, lighter weight and manoeuvrability of a cordless design.

We did try to make that trade-off clear, but your feedback suggests it may not be prominent enough. That’s something we’ll improve on the new website so customers can compare the two models more easily before choosing.

I’m pleased you’re still enjoying the cordless and completely agree with your recommendation – for maximum power, the plug-in Max remains the one to choose.

It was easy to accidentally hit the buttons during use. Version 2 takes care of that.

The metal collar at the top frequently detached because the wand on high was so powerful it vibrated the collar right off. Version 2 takes care of that.

And when you’re using the Doxy, you are in the splash zone and you WILL get wet. Every massager I’ve ever owned lost power over time because the motor got wet and rusted. Version 2 takes care of that.

If you are looking for the BEST wand money can buy. It’s the Doxy Diecast 2. 0

Thanks for the honest feedback. Given that you experienced neck failures with four previous Doxy wands, I completely understand why movement in the new neck would concern you.

It is worth clarifying that the legacy necks were not designed to be repeatedly bent, and doing so could contribute to failure. The 2.0 neck has been completely redesigned and reinforced specifically to address that weakness. Its controlled flexibility is intentional and isn’t an indication that it shares the same construction as the previous generation.

The solid die-cast body also absorbs and dampens unwanted vibration. We have compared the legacy and 2.0 models side by side, and the new construction does a better job of isolating vibration from the handle. With a motor this powerful, a faint mechanical sensation cannot be eliminated entirely, but the counterweight’s intended output remains concentrated through the head.

I’m sorry the new model hasn’t delivered the difference you hoped for, but I appreciate you giving it a try and sharing your experience.

Well… there it is 😭 our first one-star review! We knew the day would come eventually 😅

Joking aside, this genuinely did hurt to read. I’ve poured a huge part of my life into rebuilding Doxy and care deeply about what we’ve created, so hearing that you found it “a total disappointment” particularly after waiting so long… is genuinely upsetting.

That’s why I reached out privately 3 days ago. Not to challenge your opinion, but to understand what went wrong. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard back yet.

Was it the power, type of vibration, weight, controls or something else? At the moment, the review doesn’t give us enough information to understand whether the Max simply wasn’t right for your personal preferences or whether there’s something more we need to learn from.

If you see this, please reply to us. Honest criticism matters, but a little more context would make your feedback genuinely useful and allow us to respond properly.

Thank you for the honest feedback and for returning to Doxy after owning so many of our previous models.

The new motor has a deeper, lower-frequency character than the older plastic models, so it will naturally feel different. Combined with the extra weight, I am sure it will just be a getting use to period. I hope you come to love the Die Cast Max Plug-in as much as your Original over time.

You can always check the full range of its power by holding the power button for 2-3 seconds, which activates pulse mode. If you then hold the minus button or press it repeatedly a few times until it gets to the lowest setting, and then hold the head of the wand, gripping firmly, it will go through the range from low to high.

You will then be able to compare that with your original product, and you will notice that the intensity is, in my opinion, a lot stronger than the older models.

Thanks for the honest feedback. I’m pleased the lower settings are delivering the deep rumble we worked so hard to create.

As the Max moves towards its highest settings, the character changes from that slower, deeper thud towards faster and more intense output. I appreciate that the top end won’t be everyone’s preferred part of the range, particularly if the low-frequency rumble is what you enjoy most.

You’re also right that long-term use will be the real test of durability. The neck has been reinforced and the overall construction and manufacturing consistency have been improved considerably for the 2.0.

The overall power output of the 2.0 is broadly comparable with the original. The biggest difference is how that power can be applied: the new neck was specifically designed to flex under controlled pressure, whereas the legacy neck wasn’t designed to be bent.

The vibration character is also deeper and feels different from the original. Sensation is incredibly personal, and when someone has used the previous model for a long time, their body can become very accustomed to its particular feel. A different frequency profile may therefore not immediately register as stronger or may simply not suit them in the same way.

We completely understand that personal experience won’t be identical for everyone, and we appreciate you sharing yours.

It has plenty of power, but it’s noticeably quieter than the old one and doesn’t rattle. The smaller size makes it easier to handle, and being cordless is a major improvement. The metal body feels solid and well made, and the Blue Flame finish looks great.

USB-C charging is another big plus. We already travel with USB-C chargers, so there’s no special cable or extra charger to remember. Combined with the cordless design and travel lock, it’s much easier to pack and take with us.

We did have one funny moment when it arrived. We charged it, and the lights came on, but the motor did nothing. Since we already knew our way around a Doxy, we assumed it was broken and emailed the company.

Leigh replied and explained that it ships with the travel lock turned on. We held the minus and power buttons for three seconds, the lights flashed, and it came right to life. He was quick and friendly, and I told him he was a vibrator wizard.

This feels like a real next-generation Doxy: powerful, smooth, quiet, easy to handle, and much more convenient. My wife absolutely loves it.

Thank you for such a detailed review. 1.0 Doxy set a high bar if it had 5 years as the fav haha,… so hearing that the Compact feels like a huge upgrade means a great deal. It was one of my real passion projects to completely start again with the what was once called the Die Cast 3R.

You’ve raised a good point about the LEDs. They’re intended to illuminate briefly to confirm that a control has been pressed and then fade once the setting is selected. I’m going to test this on my own unit as I thought that was a feature we added.

Either way, your suggestion of a warmer or dimmer light is useful feedback, and I’ll look into whether the brightness can be softened.

In the meantime, it appears we may have accidentally included a small bedside torch at no extra charge!

Enter doxy 2. 0. The new units are everything the old one is and more. It feels better, it looks better, and regardless of how hard we ride this thing it shows no signs of wearing out. We’ve started gifting them as wedding presents. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve said “every marriage would be better with a doxy in the nightstand. ”

First, thank you for your extraordinary loyalty to Doxy. However, I can’t read that your wife was burned and left with scars without addressing it directly. That should never have happened, and I’m genuinely sorry. Any electrical product with damage or any exposed internal wiring, must be unplugged immediately and never used again. Glad to hear you’ve replaced with 2.0 :-)

The neck was one of the areas we took particularly seriously when developing Doxy 2.0. It has been reinforced, alongside broader improvements to the construction, sealing and manufacturing consistency. It’s therefore incredibly rewarding to hear that the new model has retained everything you loved about the original while already feeling considerably more robust.

The fact that you continued supporting Doxy and are now giving them as wedding presents speaks volumes, but we never take that trust for granted.

If you stop here, and do not make immediate changes, the product will fail. Look at the original Hitachi. 15-20 years old and they still run. What is key is the harmonic frequency. Story has it they did research to find the frequency that was most enjoyed. With only two settings, it had more range than this does. You didn’t field test this. You worked with a contract manufacturer who gave you options. I’d be shocked to learn you field tested it.

Nobody has topped Hitachi as crude and simple as that product is, if you csn find an authentic unit. Many knock off’s. Doxy has the opportunity to set the bar. But it’s not brute strength that’s uncomfortable. Go buy top. Ompetitive products from LeWand,, fun factory, etc. It’s refined vibrational frequency and oscillation.

I have bought 5 or 6 massagers from Doxy, and all failed. One was replaced. I bought again because I want the company to succeed. But now I’m stuck with an unrefined product. I suspect my review will just get deleted since it’s not helping sell more. That’s fine. But if you don’t stop and pivot on the design, you are wasting your time. If you want more info, let me know.

Thomas – Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. I’m sorry the product hasn’t delivered the experience you wanted, particularly as you’ve supported Doxy over the years.

You are absolutely entitled to prefer the frequency and oscillation of another product. These sensations are highly personal, and no single motor profile will suit everybody. The Max was deliberately tuned towards a powerful, deeper and more thuddy experience from the outset. Feedback from user testing showed that people generally chose the plug-in Max for that intensity, while those wanting a slower, gentler low end tended to prefer the Compact or Doxy Go.

I do, however, need to correct the suggestion that we conducted no research or field testing and simply accepted whatever a contract manufacturer offered us.

Doxy has more than ten years of real world sales and customer feedback behind it, and I have personally spent the past 9 years working with the brand. Doxy 2.0 was developed using everything we learned from the previous models, including thousands of customer reviews and support conversations, as well as extensive feedback from user testers, specialist retailers, reviewers and experts in their respective fields. The products were tested and refined throughout development, and the resulting motor characteristics were deliberate decisions – not an absence of research.

That doesn’t mean every decision will suit every individual, and your comments about wanting a broader and gentler progression are valid feedback that we will consider. However, concluding that the product wasn’t tested, or that the business will fail because its tuning doesn’t match your personal preference, is neither accurate nor fair.

We won’t delete your review simply because it is critical. Honest feedback belongs alongside the many customers who have had a very different experience, and future buyers deserve to read both.

Thank you for the honest feedback. A proper video guide demonstrating all the settings is an excellent suggestion. We’re looking at bringing our YouTube channel back to life with more helpful product guides.

In the meantime, the controls work in the same familiar way as previous models. A quick press of the power button – like pressing a button on a television remote switches it on. Short presses of the plus and minus buttons move through the 8 intensity levels individually, while holding either button moves through them more quickly.

Pressing and holding the power button activates pulse mode, where the plus and minus buttons again control the intensity.

My favourite little “party trick” is to enter pulse mode, turn it all the way down, then firmly grip the head with your hand, you can feel the progression right to your core – quite literally!

Hopefully that helps you rediscover the rumble you’re looking for. I’m really pleased you appreciate the build quality, and thank you for choosing Doxy.

The max has a really hefty feel to it which makes me feel like it is really high quality, but also works really well for the pressure it applies during use so I don’t have to stress to much on my wrist as it does the job for me, the length of the cable is pretty good too so I can reach all around my bed without me worrying about yanking the plug out accidentally.

It’s got a lovely feeling head (My first wand not sure how expected that is) that is smooth and doesn’t feel cold at first touch. The buttons are also very simple to use and well placed to and large enough that I am not having to silently scream into the pillow mid use because I cant find a button. Maybe that’s just a me thing.

Power wise I was incredibly shocked the first time I turned it on, I expected the lower setting to be . . . low. It is not, its got a deeper rumble to it than higher settings but its not a small buzz to get you started, it will 100% get you there on its own.

I could not actually go further than the 4th notch up of how powerful it was. I am sure there are those braver than me out there, or those on medications that would need it but it packs a serious punch.

On that note is noise – this isn’t quiet. It’;s not a jet engine either but if you are hoping for something sleek and understated this isn’t it.

I am really glad I bought this, I was worried about spending this kind of money but I have owned it now for just short of 2 months and its more than earned its place for me. As I said I actually sit it proudly on my drawers I like it so much

Going directly from battery-powered bullets to the Die Cast Max is quite a leap LOL you’ve moved from a bicycle to a freight train! HAHA

I’d recommend starting with very light pressure and shorter sessions while you become accustomed to it. A folded towel or another layer of soft fabric can also help soften the intensity. If anything feels uncomfortable or leaves you sore, stop and give yourself time to recover. Another option is to start further away from the intended target… gradually move closer and closer.

It was deliberately designed for customers who wanted near plug-in levels of power without the cable, but I completely understand that this won’t suit someone looking for a much gentler starting point.

We’re going to continue to test and develop the product and want a lower starting point. Its currently a trade off introducing too much shake to the handle, which we absolutely do not want.

The Die Cast Compact Cordless has a slower and softer low end and may be better suited to the progression you prefer.

Your comments about making the steps through the Max’s power range feel more distinct are useful. We were going for more refined smooth steps rather than jolting transitions.

Thanks for the honest feedback. You’re right that the lowest setting on the new Die Cast Max feels slightly more thuddy and less like the very slow rumble of the previous model.

That was a deliberate decision following feedback from a large number of user testers. Most people told us they chose the plug-in Max for its sheer power and deeper impact, while those looking for a gentler, slower low-end experience tended to prefer the Compact.

We completely understand that this change won’t suit everyone, especially if the lowest setting on the original Die Cast was your favourite.

One thing that may help is placing a folded towel or other soft fabric between the wand and the body. This can soften the more thuddy sensation and bring it closer to the gentler low-end feel you preferred.

I’m pleased to hear you’re happy with the build quality and the new controls, and we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

This review genuinely made me laugh – “almost comical how hard I’ve cum with this wand” might be one of the best lines we’ve received so far.

It’s also incredibly rewarding to hear that the 2.0 feels like a true step up from both your Hitachi and original Doxy. We put a huge amount of work into increasing the depth and strength of the vibration without losing the character that made the original so loved.

Two things stood out to me:

1. Battery life
The Die Cast Compact Cordless is designed to provide up to 2.5 hours (150 minutes) of runtime on a full charge. If yours was fresh out of the box, it may simply have needed its first full charge to reach maximum battery performance. From memory the older discontinued model (Die Cast 3R) had a battery life of 60 mins.

2. The new style of vibration
That’s something we’ve heard from a few long-time Doxy owners. The deep, low-frequency rumble feels quite different to the higher-frequency vibration of previous generations, but once people get used to it they often find it delivers a much deeper, more satisfying sensation.

Now that it’s here, I can confidently say the Doxy 2. 0 is absolutely an upgrade in every way. It’s more refined, more powerful, and somehow even better than the original—which I didn’t think was possible.

I’m beyond happy with my purchase. While I have no doubt this one will last for years, I’ll absolutely be back for more colors because one Doxy simply isn’t enough. Thank you for creating such an incredible product!

Thanks for the detailed and honest feedback.

You’re absolutely right that the Die Cast Max is a heavy unit. At 853g, there’s no disguising that. The weight comes from its solid die-cast metal construction and gives it that substantial, grounded feel, although we completely understand that sustained use at certain angles can become tiring. Its heavy enough to place in position and use hands-free. Great for those with restricted mobility.

I was genuinely surprised by your comments about the power progression. A considerable amount of development and testing went into tuning all 8 levels, with the motor output increasing throughout the range and the highest settings delivering substantially more power than the lowest. The character does evolve from a deeper thud into a faster and more intense sensation, but the progression has been very clear to our user testers and other customers so far, which is why your experience stood out to us.

Your concerns about long-term durability are also entirely fair given your experience with previous Doxy products. The 2.0 wasn’t simply given a new box and paint job: the neck has been reinforced, the sealing and button system have been improved, and tighter manufacturing tolerances were introduced throughout. Ultimately, time and real-world use will be the true test, but those previous points of weakness were taken seriously during development.

For anyone who wants the deep Doxy rumble in something considerably easier to handle, the Die Cast Compact Cordless weighs 350g and may be a better fit.

Thank you for putting the new Max through a proper real-world test and sharing your experience.

The new motor produces a much deeper, lower-frequency rumble than many other products, so comparing them purely at maximum speed doesn’t always tell the full story. It’s often the lower and middle levels where that depth really becomes apparent.
